The polymer molecules of crosslinking agent will replace the hydroxyl groups in starch molecules, forming stable crosslinking. Starch molecules are surrounded by crosslinking agent molecules, enhancing their ability to resist heat and shear, thereby maintaining viscosity stability during cycling. Due to the substitution of hydroxyl groups in starch molecules, the hydrophilicity changes to hydrophobicity, making it easy to dehydrate during drying, which increases the drying speed and thus increases the machine speed. Crosslinking agent molecules are prone to affinity with fiber molecules, thereby helping to improve adhesive strength. Due to the slow and irreversible reaction process of crosslinking agent molecules, their adhesive and moisture-proof effects will gradually increase when the corrugated board leaves the production line. After the reaction, a fast and moisture-proof film is formed and the paper board becomes hydrophobic.
