In papermaking, Polyethylene Oxide (PEO) is primarily used as a dispersant and retention aid. As a dispersing agent, high-molecular-weight PEO makes the pulp less likely to clump, slowing down water drainage and increasing the evenness of the paper sheet. Dispersing Agent:
